Next Step... The factory location of the steering rack is the limiting factor restricting additional forward space availability for the belt drive. An 8 rib serpentine or 30mm cog is about all the stock space will permit. Our testing proved 30mm to be inadequate capability for the load transfer generated from our application. (Belt composition obviously impacts load and speed capability. Conventional rubber or Polyurethane belts are not suitable in such an application. We've ultimately selected a high performance, Aramid fibre (often referred to as Kevlar) reinforced rubber belt.) We had no alternative but to move the steering rack forward.
